Outpost Buildings are specialists in free range coop design.  These large scale models feature our unique, perch and nesting system and are mounted on heavy duty skids for easy relocation.  These large coops are designed for efficient cleaning and egg collection and will house 100 – 400 chickens in the open field.

Poultry Housing Information

On a small rural Lifestyle Block or small holding in New Zealand you are allowed to keep up to 100 free range chickens providing they have adequate housing, fencing and consistent feed program without council consent.

Outpost have an excellent range of Coops to provide adequate shelter, perching and nesting areas. Outpost Coops are built tough and mounted on skids for easy relocation - designed to tow away from the soiled ground when it’s time to clean out your coop.  The outside access nest boxes make it easy to collect the eggs and are rainproof.

Other Information

Hens have a natural tendacy to perch. Providing a perch in your hen house is important, it creates space and will make your hens more content. Nests need to be kept clean, comfortable and fairly dark to encourage the hens to lay eggs. Generally you should allow 1 nest box (35cm2 approx) per 5 birds.
